Summer Camp of Taiwan Youth Launched in Anhui

On the 9th and 10th of July, a series of activities of a summer camp for Taiwan youth was held in Qingyuan Campus of Anhui University (AHU). This summer camp was part of the 2016 All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots (AFTC)s Thousand-Member Summer Camp for Taiwans youth, and it has seen nearly 50 teachers and students from Taiwan as well as students from AHU take part in these activities.

Ms. Shen Suli, member of Anhui Provincial Party Committee, head of the United Front Work Department of Anhui Province and director of the provincial Overseas Friendship Association, attended the opening ceremony of the summer camp and presented the flag of the camp to one of its members. Mr. Li Renqun, secretary of AHU party committee, and Mr. Chen Haiqing, director of Anhui branch of AFTC as well as head of this summer camp, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.

        

During the two-day summer camp, teachers and students from Taiwan region had a taste of the beautiful scenery of Qingyuan Campus and paid a visit to the exhibition hall of AHU history. They all enjoyed themselves greatly from the lectures on tea culture, experience of tea ceremony, as well as the brilliant performances from students of both Taiwan universities and AHU.

This summer camp has been held for 13 times, with its main content of displaying new achievements of Anhuis economical and social development, the fostering procedures of the Hui culture and the beautiful scenery of Anhui province, providing opportunities for youth of Anhui and Taiwan to communicate with each other and promoting the perception of the One China idea.
